A third consecutive 1-2 week leaves me with a 3-9 record on the year. This is becoming quite comical, but screw it I’m in this far in so I’m not gonna give up. Time to jump back up on the horse and give it another try. Or maybe I should pull out my dartboard and use that to make my picks. Here are DFCF the Greek’s week 5 picks:
Notre Dame (-2.5) at Boston College
Notre Dame hasn’t won at Boston College since 1998, but that streak ends this weekend. Notre Dame is coming off 3 straight losses, 2 of which were of the heartbreaking variety, so they will come into this game very focused and determined to turn around their season. Boston College has underperformed in every game this season so this week they are giving freshman QB Chase Rettig his first start.
UTEP (-15) at New Mexico
This is a big number and I usually don’t like laying those on the road, but New Mexico could be the worst football team in the country. They are 0-4 and they’ve lost those four games by 72, 35, 42, and 35 points. That’s all the info I need. If the Miners can’t cover against this sorry team then ….. well ….. you know.
Penn State at Iowa (-7)
Iowa lost a tough game at Arizona a few weeks ago, but they are still one of the best teams in the country. Iowa has a very tough defense that should be able to put the clamps down on a Penn State offense that has struggled so far this year. Combine that with a hostile night road game and things just don’t look good for Penn State. If Iowa plays up to their capabilities, they should take care of business here.
Season Record: 3-9
My leans last week were 2-3 so more mediocre suckitude. I did get NC State +8.5 right, which is really all that matters. Anyway here are my leans for this week: Ohio State (-16.5), Oregon (-7), Florida (+8.5), Virginia (+7), NC State (+4). Good luck!
