Sorry to my few loyal readers out there, it’s been one of those weeks where I just haven’t had much time to devote to this blog. I’ve been so busy with work and the holidays combined with the nervous tension I have for Saturday’s game against Maryland that I haven’t even really been able to celebrate our 4th straight win over the Tar Heels. If you look at the sidebar I have added a new counter to rub in the fact that it’s been 1,468 days and counting since the Tar Heels last beat us in football. Man, I love saying that. Instantly brings a smile to my face. Well let’s get to the grades. I don’t have time to do a full position by position breakdown so I’m going to do this like last week. Feel free to add your additional grades in the comment section.
2010 Seniors – Grade: A++++
4-0 against Carolina for their career … enough said.
TOB – Grade: A++++
The game plan was not very good, but TOB & Co. made enough adjustments and found a way to get the win. There are a lot of things that I dislike about TOB, but he really gets this rivalry and puts a lot of emphasis on it and for that I love him. Plus, 4-0 against Carolina doesn’t hurt.
T.J. Graham – Grade: A+
That, my friend, is what we’ve been waiting for all season. I said in the game preview that it was going to come down to who could make a big play on special teams and T.J. Graham provided that play for the Pack. It was the turning point in the game and I don’t think we win without it. I was sitting in that corner and T.J. looked over at the Wolfpack section for the last 20 yards and had the biggest smile on his face. That was awesome!
Josh Czajkowski – Grade: A+
He was done for the season after his injury during the Clemson game and then he showed up as questionable on the injury report. Everybody thought TOB was playing mind games with Butch, but that wasn’t the case. Czajkowski was healed and looked better than he has all season drilling all 5 of his kicks (3-3 on PATs and 2-2 on FGs including a 47 yarder). He should be applauded for his hard work in making such a quick recovery.
My tickets – Grade: B
Now this is quite possibly the hardest grade I’ve had to give all year. We were on the 3rd row and had a prime view of the dance team (see picture below), but Kenan Stadium is set up so that if you’re on one of the first 10 rows you end up with terrible vision of the actual game. I can’t complain too much, though, since the tickets were free (thanks bro!) and we were right there for the postgame celebration.
Offensive Line – Grade: D-
Carolina’s D-line owned our O-line for the vast majority of this game and that was without the services of Marvin Austin and Robert Quinn. Thank goodness they missed this game. The O-line has to play much better tomorrow against Maryland or it will be Disappointment City for Wolfpack Nation.
Brandan Bishop’s tackling – Grade: Not Good
I hate to dog the kid, but this total whiff of a tackle was … how do I say this as nice as possible? … let’s just leave it at … Not Very Good. See for yourself, he’s #30.
