And Away We Go

Well the 2011 ACC Football Kickoff is officially in the books.  With that the 2011 season has begun s0 things will start picking up around here.  The offseason has been nice but I’m ready to start talking about news, unis, practice, games, stats, and … begrudgingly … even injuries.

Yep Pack Nation, as the season kicks off and before practice even begins we’ve already lost our first player for the season.  That would be CB Jarvis Byrd, who will miss his second consecutive season due to a torn ACL.  In other injury news, RB Mustafa Greene will miss the first 4 games of the season as he recovers from the foot injury sustained during Spring Practice.  Also, OG Andrew Wallace will miss 5-6 games due to the torn ACL he sustained during Champs Sports Bowl practices.

The updated ‘organizational chart’ was released a few days ago.  [Download PDF]

The new NC State media guide was also released.  [Download PDF]

And we all love rankings/polls so I’ll leave you with the Preseason Media Poll with ACC champion votes in parentheses:

Atlantic:
1. Florida State (50)
2. Clemson (2)
3. NC State
4. Boston College (1)
5. Maryland
6. Wake Forest

Coastal:
1. Virginia Tech (18)
2. Miami
3. North Carolina
4. Georgia Tech
5. Virginia
6. Duke

I’ll post my meaningless predictions soon.  I know you can’t wait, but try to temper your excitement a little bit.  Woohoo!!  Wolfpack Football is right around the corner!!

State Football, 3 Levels Deep

If NCAA Football 12 hitting the stores today doesn’t get you excited for the upcoming NC State football season, then this video surely will.  One word:  badass.

It gives me goosebumps every time I watch it.  I may not need to post anything else until the season starts.

NCAA Football 12

As the countdown to the 2011 season approaches 50 days I’m starting to get very antsy.  The players are starting to report to campus.  Practice starts in exactly 3 weeks.  Man, I’m starting to get excited.  What better way to help hold me over than the newest installment from EA Sports, NCAA Football 12, which hits stores today.  I buy this every year just because, but if you want to read a review here you go.  One of the new things they added was school traditions.  Here’s the stadium intro video for NC State, complete with Fury and Russell Wilson, but no fireworks.  I guess I’ll let them slide on that.

If anybody’s interested in starting a PS3 online dynasty, hit me up in the comments.  The one stipulation is that I get to be NC State.  Also, if you’re looking for an NC State NCAA Football 12 wallpaper, here are some downloads [1920x1080] [1280x960] [1280x800] [1024x768] [800x600].  Okay, now I’m off to lead NC State to back-to-back-to-back-to-back-to-back national championships.

The Land of Beer and Cheese

It’s official, Russell Wilson will be playing for the Wisconsin Badgers this Fall.  I’ll be immersed in everything Wolfpack Football, but I’m sure I’ll keep a wandering eye on Wisconsin and the B1G Ten.  It’s gonna really suck to see Russell playing for someone other than the Wolfpack, but I wish him the very best.

Here is Russel’s interview on ESPN’s College Football Live from earlier in the week where he discussed Wisconsin, Auburn, and NC State.  Russell is just the epitome of class.  Thanks for everything!  You’ll always be a Wolfpacker!
