It’s been a long, tough couple of days in the DFCF household as we’ve been dealing with the death of Mrs. DFCF’s grandpa.  He was a proud Army vet who served our country in World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War.  It was totally unexpected, but somewhat fitting that he passed away the same weekend that State celebrated Military Appreciation Day.  The two things he was most proud of in life were his country and his family.  He will be missed dearly.

As for our football team, we won Saturday but it sure didn’t look pretty.  We have a lot of issues, on both sides of the ball, that need to be corrected if we still hope to have a successful season.  I’m worried that with the injuries starting to mount that this team is already starting to look for excuses.  No excuses, find a way to win.  With that I’ll leave you with the photos (all by Ethan Hymann/N&O) from the South Alabama game.  Give me some good captions this week.

Bonus Photo:  Thank you to all the men and women who serve, or have served, in the US Military!  Your bravery, sacrifice, and dedication have made this the greatest country in the world!  I’m disappointed that the 2 troops I was suppose to host at my tailgate never showed up, but I’m glad those of you that made it were able to enjoy a football game at Carter-Finley.  Godspeed to you all!

Another trip to Winston-Salem and another Wolfpack loss.  This shit is getting old.  It would be one thing if we were talking Alabama, LSU, Ohio State, Virginia Tech, Oregon, etc. … but nope, we’re talking freaking Wake Forest.  This one hurts and may end up costing us a bowl trip.

The Pack played a very sloppy game Saturday against Liberty.  The O-line struggled, we had several mishaps on special teams, there were too many turnovers, and Glennon was anything but sharp.  Had it been against a real opponent it would have surely been a loss.  Having said all that, a win is a win so we’ll definitely take it and move on.

The pundits always say a football team improves the most between games one and two so let’s hope that is the case with this team and we look a lot better next Saturday.  A loss against Wake Forest would be a crucial blow to our hopes of making a bowl game for the second consecutive year.

I absolutely despise everything about Carolina.  Their fans are the definition of bandwagon, that color blue just makes me want to barf, and their “I’m better than you” attitude is absurd.  I haven’t talked much about UNC this season, including the the agent scandal going on with the UNC football team because, frankly this is a NC State blog so I’m going to talk about NC State.  It’s sad that other NC State blogs/websites have not followed this same principle.  But it’s rivalry week so it’s fair game to bash the Heels up one side and down the other.  With that in mind here’s a special rivalry edition of Pack the Caption so don’t hold anything back.
