I’ll have plenty of things to say about yesterday’s State-UNC rivalry game, but it’ll have to wait a little bit longer as I’m still celebrating #5 in a row. All week I was worried I’d have to take down my favorite part of the site, the counter at the top right of the page. Well it’s still there … and at 1,814 days and counting. Man it feels so good. I’m one of those people that just gets enamored with the Olympics. It doesn’t matter if it is the Summer or Winter games, I just can’t get enough. Stuff that I would normally find painfully boring to watch … like Nordic combined … I am glued to the TV and rooting for my fellow countrymen. Speaking of Nordic combined, big congrats to Bill Demong and Johnny Spillane for bringing the USA our first ever Olympic medals in this sport. Stuff like that is what the Olympics are all about.
Back in the fall me and my little brother (I know proper grammar is “my little brother and I”, but that has always sounded stupid to me so I don’t talk that way … turn me into the Internet Grammar Police) were planning a trip to Vancouver. We were looking at flights, hotels, and rental cars. My brother even got his passport and we talked to our grandma about using part of her timeshare. Some stuff came up and our plans just never materialized.
As I was watching the Olympics come to a close yesterday I was a little sad that we didn’t make it up there for a couple of reasons. First, it would have been a damn good time. Don’t worry Mrs. DFCF, I promise I would have stayed away from the Olympic Village. It just seemed like one huge rockin’ party that I hate I missed out on. Second, it would have allowed me to cross something off my personal bucket list. That got me thinking … what would DFCF’s bucket list look like?
I know the suspense and anticipation is killing you, so without further ado here is DFCF’s bucket list (in no particular order):
That’s the list for now. I reserve the right to add more stuff to it later, but I’m pretty sure this list will be tough enough to complete as is. I’ll come back and revisit this whenever I can cross something off. For now I need to start working on how I can make some of this stuff happen. Zach Galifianakis rockin' the NC State visor on the Red Carpet
I just ran across this picture of Zach Galifianakis (of The Hangover fame) sporting some NC State swag at the premiere of his HBO show Bored to Death. Can’t believe I’m just now seeing this. As Galifianakis’ stardom continues to soar I hope he will continues to promote NC State whenever he can. Maybe he can find a way to wear a NC State shirt in The Hangover 2. I’ll provide the shirt(s) if he’ll make it happen. Zach just drop me a line (dfcf99 at gmail dot com). That would be much better marketing than anything our futile marketing department has done over the past decade.
Speaking of our marketing department, how tough is it to reach out to Galifianakis and bring him back for a football game? Imagine how crazy that would be for the fans and how much good publicity that would generate for the University. At least incorporate his “one man wolfpack” scene into the jumbotron mix as I pleaded for in this article back in September. I know he’s a busy guy, but we should be able to find a way for him to be involved. Remember Galifianakis did attend State and left to pursue his acting career just one credit shy from graduating so this would be totally different from some random actor/actress wearing a UNC shirt because it’s “cool.”

Most of you know this, but that’s NC native and former NC State student Zach Galifianakis. Per his IMDB bio, he was one point in his final college class away from being an NC State alum. I’d love to know which professor failed him by one point. Hopefully he’ll come back one day and finish up his degree. Anyway, with all the stupid stuff that gets on the jumbotron during games how has this clip from The Hangover not made the cut … minus the whole strippers and cocaine part? Somebody needs to make this happen.
So yesterday I think I added a few guys (and gals) to my Wolfpack. I sent out the email so I expected it to be the busiest day for the site, but 49 unique page views …. Wow! Thanks everybody. I’ll try my best to keep you informed and entertained.
Now for a few quick practice updates. Several players have missed practice(s) this week with the swine flu bug that’s been affecting many sports teams around the country. Luckily it looks like it’s only gonna keep 2 players, Jay Smith and Julian Williams, from playing on Saturday. Clem’s hamstring will keep him out this week. Bishop took most of the first team reps in practice so he’s likely to get his first collegiate start in his place. Finally, both Bowens and DeAndre returned from injury to practice, but Bowens still hasn’t gone in full pads so doubtful that he plays.
